Ghost Soup - The Origin Story
Hey, thanks for stopping by!
Founded in February 2024, Ghost Soup began as a choice to pursue a dream. One day I woke up and more-or-less decided that there is no reason other than my own headspace as to why I shouldn’t try to do something more with my art.
I’m sure I’ve been drawing since being a toddler as most people have, but I remember really deciding it was something I loved to do and intentionally putting effort into teaching myself more around 7 years old (2002). Since then, I’ve ebbed and flowed between my efforts, but really coming to a halt in my early 20s when I hit a several year long artist block and lost my drive.
It was when I found myself in a dead-end career that I hated that I decided to finally throw all caution to the wind and hunker down and get back at it. I love finding a new medium to work within and to create with, but my roots truly do come from traditional illustration and digital illustration.
I received my first very basic art tablet in 2007 after working hard in MS Paint with mouse and keyboard, even going so low as to try drawing with laptop track pad. I belonged to several oekaki boards and that really helped spark a deep interest in the art community.
Fast forward to 2024, I began selling commissioned earrings and portraits as well as looking into events to attend. I attended my first event, Windham and Raymond Pride in June of 2024 and it set off a snowball of farmer’s markets, craft fairs, and other vendor opportunities. I hope to continue to grow and reach more people and make more artist connections throughout the years to come.
Please reach out if you’d like to connect!
